这一系列的篇章将为我们的读者叙述我们这一群人在六月份假期时到过北京的一些心情和感想，从而让我们更深入理解这个古文化城，中国的首都北京。

经过漫长的六小时，北京机场终于映入眼帘，也为我们这一趟七天的文化浸濡之旅掀开序幕．到了机场后，我不禁感到有些激动，百感交集，为即将到来的旅途感到迫切不已，而有些人则还是处于半清醒的状态中，哈．离开了机场后，一路上的情景更是让我对中国的宽阔和强大感到感慨和振奋．车程的一路上，我的视线紧粘着车窗外的景色，对北京的第一个印象竟然是：人好多啊！北京宽敞的马路毅然与新加坡的截然不同，一条马路上可以同时有超速的车子，一些悠哉的自行车骑士和一些不顾生命危险的行人．＂叭．叭，叭＂的喇叭声不时在马路上响起，令我不禁为那些不遵守交通规则的行人感到担忧．终于，兴奋好奇的我们一小时后抵达了位于北京市中心的故宫，也称紫禁城．这是明，清两代的皇宫，无与伦比的古代建筑杰作，也是中国现存最大，最完整的古建筑群．我们一路上走着，跟随着我们的导游便一路为我们细心的讲解其中一些重要的建筑，让我们大开眼界．故宫始建于公元１４０６，１４２０年基本竣工，是明朝朱棣皇帝始建的，被誉为世界五大宫之一．故宫的宏伟，宽大令我们叹为观止，也让我深深地体会到古时候皇帝拥有的那份权威。天安门广场和毛泽东的肖像更让我中国人产生的一种民族自豪。一路上，人潮汹涌的景象一直离不开我们的视线。无论走到哪里，街道上总是有数也数不清的人。来自世界各国，不同肤色，不同语言，从老人到小孩，都不约而同的选择在这天探访这个在中国历史上具有重要的影响地位的建筑。天气再炎热，脚走得再远，也丝毫抹不掉人们来观看这儿壮观景点的兴致。尽管感到精疲力尽，但我认为这是我人生中一个最难忘，最有纪念价值的经验。

Hello readers, the following series of posts will be on our day-to-day accounts of our cultural exchange trip to BeiJing during the June holidays. Let's start, shall we?

After a long and drowsy six hours of flight, we finally reached our destination, Beijing. As we finally reached the airport, I felt so excited and anticipated of what's going to come during this seven days. There was just this indescribable feeling as I felt butterflies in my stomach even before we proceeded. Time seemed to past by ever so slowly during the check-in session. Finally, we left the airport to board on the bus, signalling the start of the whole journey. As our bus took off, I kept close to the window, eagerly anticipating the facades of this city. As my eyes trailed the scenes that followed, I was surprised to find that my first impression of this capital of China is the congestion and flooding of people in this place. Yes, I finally understand for my self what "congested" truly means, which was indeed quite different from what you'll expect in Singapore. There were just lots of people everywhere, hence resulting in a rather congested traffic. The horns coming from the cars filled the atmosphere, creating a buzz in the city. Finally, an hour's bus ride got us to the middle of Beijing, our first destination-The Forbidden Palace. As we proceeded, the tour guide gave us detailed explanations of some important buildings of the Palace which was such an eye-opener for us. This was the first time I have visited this place and we were all truly amazed by the magnificence of it. The forbidden palace was the Chinese imperial palace from the mid-Ching dynasty to the end of Ching dynasty which served as the home of the emperor and his household, and the ceremonial and political centre of the Chinese government for almost five centuries. Built from 1406 to 1420, the complex consists of 980 surviving buildings with 8,707 bays of rooms and covers 720,000 square metres. Due to its vast size, we spent quite some time to tour through the palace. Although it was hot and tiring, it didnt diminished the people's interests in this rare and mysterious palace which places some great importance in China's history.
